Ircon International Limited (IRCON) was set up to utilize the Indian Railway?s experience in helping Developing Nations of the world to install or maintain their own railways and also to execute railway projects for private sector.
IRCON is a Public Sector Unit of the Ministry of Railways and was formerly established on 28th April, 1976 as Indian Railway Construction Company Limited.
The Company was the first to get the ISO-9001: 2000 Certification from TUV Germany for its full range of construction activities.
It is the only construction PSU awarded with the Mini-Ratna status by the Government of India.
The Company?s specialization is in Railways, Railways Electrification, Signal and Telecommunications, construction of roads, highways, commercial, industrial and residential complexes, airport runways, airport constructions, leasing of locomotives, mass rapid transit system, etc.
In the last 28 years, the Company has made a niche for itself amongst the leading International Construction Company?s.
IRCON has been the only Indian Company featuring in the prestigious McGraw Hill publication ?ENR rankings? from early 1980?s. In December 2003, IRCON featured amongst the Top Ten Mass Transit and Rail construction companies and also ranked 128th amongst the Top 225 International construction companies.
The Company has completed 300 landmark infrastructure projects in India and 90 projects across the globe in 19 countries namely, Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tanzania, Turkey, United Kingdom and Zambia.
The Company has recently bagged projects in Mozambique and Ethiopia. And is all set to enter two more countries namely, Philippines and Sudan.
